Function in Many Different Ways

Very few persons in any walk of life ever think of the Proper Functioning of the five principal internal organs; viz: the Heart, Liver, Kidneys, Lungs, and the Stomach and Spleen. These organs have their upper openings as well as their lower passages.

As the old Chinese teachings show, the cavity of the Nose is the opening to the Lungs; the Mouth is the cavity to the Stomach and Spleen. The cavities of the Ears are the openings to the Liver and Kidneys. Moreover, the cavities of the Eyes are also in direct openings to all of the five principal internal organs. While most people realize that when the Bowels do not function properly the cause may be traced to inactivity of the Liver, yet when the outside or inside of the mouth, nose, and ears, is tormented with pimples, eczema or diseases of various kinds, very few persons attribute these troubles to impurities of the Blood, resultant upon the improper functioning of the internal organs, the blood and air circulation of which pass through or out of these cavities and cause these disorders around the cavity openings.

When a person troubled with these external ailments calls a medical healer, he generally receives local treatment, while the seat of the trouble in the internal organs is seldom taken into consideration and therefore remains untouched. Electricity is quite generally used in present-day local treatments, a part or all of the eruptions being thereby burned off. A DISFIGURED FACE IS THE RESULT. Recently, several persons have taken the Fong Wan Herbs for Mastoid Glands and Running Sores in the Ears, caused by Inflammation of the Liver. The results have been marvelous and the recover- -(4)ies speedy. The testimonials of the sufferers thus relieved may be seen at the office of the Fong Wan Herb Co.

With the exception of the Heart, the principal internal organs have both direct lower passages and upper openings to the outside. For thousands of years the Chinese have believed that the Heart has its indirect passages through the Small Intestines. However, it has neither a direct nor an indirect upper opening or cavity. Because of this, when the Heart has an attack it is like a Steam Boiler without a Safety Valve. Its ailments are therefore harder to overcome than those of any of the other internal organs. Its attacks cause heart failure, pain and leakage of the heart, fits, insanity, high blood pressure, dizziness, headache, and redness and burning of the face. All of these troubles may be traced to the Heart. The people in America say that these complaints cannot be successfully treated, but the Chinese know that even though it takes time, these pathological conditions can be overcome by being reached through the Blood Circulation and the Small Intestines.

When a person says that his Ears are ringing, buzzing, and whizzing like an engine, it means that his Liver or Kidneys are either over-heated by the Fire Element, or excited by Argument. The old Chinese theories show that the action of the Limbs of the Human Body is controlled by the Spleen. Whenever the Hands or the Legs are diseased, herbs to work on the Spleen are required.
