Brodiaea
About thirty species, all extra-tropical American, compose this genus. To those described on p. 213, Vol. I., the following should now be added:
B. Douglasii (Douglas'). fl. violet-blue, inodorous, ten to twenty in a dense umbel; perianth funnel-shaped, 1in. long, the segments oblong, acute; scape slender, 1ft. to 1 1/2ft. long. May. generally two, light green, flaccid, deeply channelled, shorter than the scape. Bulb small, globose. California, &c., 1876. (B. M. 6907.) B. grandiflora Warei (Ware's). fl. lilac-rose, 3in. long; scape 2ft. to 2 1/4ft. high. California, 1886. A beautiful variety.
