Carludovica
This genus embraces about thirty species, natives of tropical America and the West Indies. To those described on p. 268, Vol. I., the following should now be added:
C. Plumieri (Plumier's). fl., spadices pendulous, 4in. long, axillary, pedunculate, covered with twisted threads. l. alternate, bipartite, the divisions lanceolate, plicate, with ribs raised on the upper surface, bright green above, paler beneath. Caudex erect, waving.
