This genus comprises about forty species, natives of Asia, tropical and South Africa, and America. To the information given on p. 317, Vol. I., the following should now be added. For culture, see Anthericum, on p. 83, Vol. I.

C. elatum variegatum (tall, variegated). fl. white, with the keel of each segment slightly greenish, about 1in. in diameter, paniculate. Summer. l. bright green, with broad bands and blotches of yellowish-white, strap-shaped, reflexed in the upper half, narrowed gradually to an acute point. SYN. Anthericum variegatum.
