Dilleniaceae
A rather large order of trees, shrubs, or suffruticose herbs, allied to the Magnoliads. Flowers yellow or white, often very showy, hermaphrodite or polygamous, rarely dioecious; sepals five (rarely three, four, or numerous), persistent, in two rows; petals five, or fewer, deciduous. Fruit consisting of two or five distinct or united carpels. There are about seventeen genera and 200 species, chiefly found in Australia, India, and North America. Some are large timber trees, while others are fruit-producing. Well-known genera are: Candollea, Delima, Dillenia, and Tetracera.
