Diplolaena
(from diploos, double and chlaina, a cloak; alluding to the double involucre). ORD. Rutaceae. A genus of about four species of greenhouse evergreen Australian shrubs. Flower-heads terminal, shortly pedunculate or nearly sessile. Leaves alternate, petiolate, entire. Diploaenas thrive in a compost of peat and a little fibry loam. Propagated by cuttings of firm young shoots.
D. Dampieri (Dampier's). l. green and glabrous above. Other wise closely resembling D. grandiflora. (B. M. 4059.) D. grandiflora (large-flowered). fl.-heads shortly pedunculate, 1 1/2in. in diameter; petals 1inear, ciliate, concealed within the head. April. l. ovate or broadly oblong, very obtuse, 1in. to 2in. long, hoary-tomentose, especially beneath. h. 4ft. to 5ft.
