Ekebergia

(named in honor of Charles Gustavus Ekeberg, captain of a Swedish East Indiaman, who took Sparmann to China for the purpose of making inquiries in natural history). ORD. Meliaceoe. A genus of about three species of fine greenhouse evergreen trees, from tropical and Southern Africa. For culture, see Melia.

E. capensis (Cape). fl. white. July. l. impari-pinnate, with four or five pairs of elliptical, acuminate, smooth leaflets. Cape of Good Hope, 1789. A large tree.
