Fevillea
(named after Louis Feuillee, 1660-1732, a traveller and botanist). SYN. Nhandiroba. ORD. Cucurbitaceae. A genus containing five or six species of climbing shrubs, natives of tropical America. F. Moorei, perhaps the only one in cultivation, is a rampant evergreen stove climber, thriving in a sandy loam. Propagated by cuttings, made of the young wood, in summer, and inserted in sandy loam, under a bell glass, in heat.
F. (Moore's) fl. males only known) pale brick red; pedicel slender, jointed in the middle; corolla lobes orbicular, or broader towards the rounded apex; margins undulate. l. alternate, membranous, 3in. to 5in. long, shining, broadly ovate, long acuminate, rounded at the base. Guiana(?). A slender, quite glabrous climber. (B. M. 6356.)
