Ginger
The Ginger of commerce is the dried rhizomes of Zingiber officinale (which see). It is imported into this country in its dried and bleached state, from both the East and West Indies, Africa, and China; but Jamaica Ginger is considered the best. It is used both as a condiment and as a preserve.
