Hallia
(named in honour of Bergen Martin Hall, a pupil of Linnaeus). ORD. Leguminosae. A genus containing six species of erect or decumbent greenhouse perennial herbs or sub-shrubs, all natives of South Africa. Flowers purple, small, axillary, solitary. Leaves alternate, simple, very entire, often black-dotted, two-stipuled. The best-known species is H. imbricata. For culture, see Alhagi.
