Jaborosa
(derived from the Arabic word Jabarose, which was applied to the Mandrake, from its affinity to that plant). ORD. Solanaceoe. A genus comprising six or seven species of pretty greenhouse or hardy herbaceous perennials, one of which is from Mexico and the rest from the Andes and extra-tropical South America. Flowers white or yellowish, solitary; corolla campanulate or tubular. Leaves dentate, runcinate-pinnatified, or dissected. The species thrive in a light sandy-loam soil. Increased by divisions of the plant; or by seeds, sown during spring. Cuttings of young shoots will root under a handlight. The only species yet introduced to cultivation is the one here described.
J. integrifolia (entire-leaved). fl. white; corolla 2in. long, with acute segments; scapes length of petioles. l. petiolate, oval, nearly entire. h. 6in. Buenos Ayres. A pretty little hardy plant, forming a mass of deep green foliage; it thrives in a southern aspect. (B. M. 3489.)
