Linconia
(said to be a South African name). ORD. Bruniaceae. A genus comprising three species of ornamental, Epacris-like, greenhouse evergreen sub-shrubs, natives of the Cape of Good Hope. Flowers white, solitary, in the axils of the upper leaves; calyx adnate to the ovary; petals lanceolate, not clawed, coriaceous, convolute. Leaves spirally arranged. Branches numerous, erect. L. alopecuroides (fox-tail-like). fl. white or flesh-coloured, a little longer than the leaves. May. l. spreading a little, linear, acute, almost sessile. h. 2ft. 1816.
L. cuspidata (cuspidate-leaved). fl. white; bracts equal in length to the calyx, with fringed pilose edges. May and June. l. spreading a little, oblong, obtuse, ustulate at the apex, keeled. h. 2ft. 1825.
L. thymifolia (Thyme-leaved). fl. white. May and June. l. ovate-oblong, obtuse, keeled, tipped with black. h. 2ft. 1825.
