Sageretia
(named after M. Sageret, a distinguished French agriculturist). ORD. Rhamneae. A genus comprising about half-a-score species of stove or greenhouse shrubs, with slender or rigid, unarmed or spiny branches, natives of Central and Southern Asia, Java, and the warmer parts of North America. Flowers small, five-parted. Leaves sub-opposite, shortly petiolate, oblong or ovate, pinnately nerved and reticulated, entire or serrated; stipules minute, deciduous. S. hamosa, perhaps the only species introduced, is probably lost to cultivation in this country.
