L. triphylla is a popular border annual. L. triornithophora is remarkable for the form of its flowers, which resemble three little birds seated in the spur.

L. vulgaris is a very shewy plant, but also a bad weed in sandy pastures. 1345. Anarrhinum. Named by Desfontaines, from a, privative, and ῥiv, nose, in contradistinction to Antirrhinum, because the plants of this genus have not the snout-like flowers of the latter.
