SAMYDEÆ.
Tropical shrubs or small trees, with entire, stipulate, alternate leaves, covered with pellucid dots, and axillary flowers of little shew. Some of the species of Samyda are pretty, but very rare. Their properties are unknown. M. Decandolle remarks, that in their fruit they approach Bixineæ and Flacourtianese; but on account of the position of their stamens must be arranged in the vicinity of Rhamneæ and Rosaceӕ. 1034 Samyda W. 3Y 4 NATURAL ARRANGEMENT.
