Anagyris
(from ana, backwards, and gyros, a circle; the pods are curved backwards at their extremities). ORD. Leguminosae. An ornamental greenhouse or half-hardy shrub, having the two stipules placed opposite the leaves. It thrives in a mixture of loam, sand, and peat in equal proportions. Young cuttings should be planted in July in a pot of sand, and placed under a hand glass.
A. foetida (foetid). fl. yellow, hairy, like those of the Laburnum; racemes short. May. l. trifoliate; leaflets lanceolate, acute, entire. h. 6ft. to 8ft. South Europe, 1750. This shrub is foetid in every part when bruised.
