Calophaca (About seven species)

About seven species of greenhouse or hardy, perennial herbs, shrubs, or under-shrubs, natives of Asiatic Russia, the Orient, and the Western Provinces of India, are included in this genus. Flowers yellow or violet, few, rather large. Leaves impari-pinnate; leaflets entire, exstipellate. C. grandiflora is a hardy, branched shrub, requiring similar culture to that recommended for C. wolgarica on p. 245, Vol. I. C. grandiflora (large-flowered). fl., calyx five-cleft; corolla golden-yellow, papilionaceous, 1in. long; peduncles axillary, and, together with the raceme, exceeding the leaves. June and July. l. 2 1/2in. to 8in. long; leaflets ovate, shortly petiolulate, 1/2in. to nearly 1in. long, entire. 1886. (R. G. 1231.)
