Cornutia
(named after Jacques Cornutus, a French physician, who travelled in Canada; he died in Paris, in 1651, after publishing his "Historia Plantarum Canadensium"). SYN. Hosta. ORD. Verbenaceoe. A small tropical American genus, containing about six species of ornamental green-house evergreen shrubs, allied to Callicarpa. They succeed well in a mixture of loam and peat. Cuttings strike readily in sand, if placed under a glass, in bottom heat, during February or March. Perhaps the only species in cultivation is C. pyramidata.
