Dianthera (Eighty species included)

Of the eighty species included in this genus, two or three are natives of tropical Africa or Asia, and the rest are all tropical or extra-tropical American. To those described on p. 461, Vol. I., the following should now be added:

D. bullata (studded). fl. whitish, small, fascicled in the axils of the minute, opposite bracts. l. opposite, shortly petiolate, 3 1/2in. to 4 1/2in. 2 1/2in. to 2 3/4in. broad, elliptic, obtusely acuminate, slightly contracted at base, cordate, bullate between the veins, glabrous, dark green above, purple and pubescent on the veins beneath. Stem terete, fuscous-purple. Borneo, 1886. Stove. (I. H. 1886, 589.)
