Elliottia
(named in honour of Stephen Elliot, an American botanist, who died in 1830). SYN. Tripetaleia. ORD. Ericaceae. A genus of three species of very pretty half-hardy evergreen shrubs, two of which are Japanese (these are probably not at present in cultivation), and the third North American. The one mentioned below does well in a warm situation, in a peaty soil. Propagated by cuttings.
E. racemosa (racemose). fl. white, in conspicuous terminal racemes or panicles, resembling those of Andromeda. August. l. alternate, entire. h. 4ft. to 10ft. Georgia.
