Kentiopsis
(from Kentia, and opsis, resemblance; on account of its likeness to Kentia). ORD. Palmae. A genus containing three species of stove palms, closely allied to Kentia (which see for culture).
K. divaricata (divaricate). l. pinnate; leaflets leathery, alternate, when young a fine red colour. h. 30ft. New Caledonia, 1876. SYN. Kentia gracilis. (I. H. n. s. 409.) K. macrocarpa (large-fruited). l. pinnate, ovate in outline when young; pinnae somewhat distant, oblong-lanceolate; petioles red. Young leaves deep olive-crimson. Stem stout, smooth. New Caledonia, 1876. A handsome species, of vigorous habit. SYN. Kentia Lindeni.
