MALPIGHIACEÆ.
Undulated unguiculate spreading petals form one of the most obvious characters of this order, the species of which are all tropical, and are either trees or shrubs, often climbers. Many of the Malpighias are well known NATURAL ARRANGEMENT. for the prurient hairs produced on the surface of their leaves; their fruit is eatable, their timber of a deep red color, and their bark a febrifuge.
